A Firefox extension to defend against first-party fingerprinting
Conseal is a Firefox browser extension built on top of Privacy Badger. It provides all the default benefits of Privacy Badger, but also aims to defend against first-party fingerprinting.
These days, online advertisers are looking beyond traditional cookie-based tracking, exploring new methods such as browser fingerprinting. This is when identifying features of your web browser such as browser version, screen size, and more, can be combined to create a unique "fingerprint" of you, allowing them to track you across multiple websites.
While Privacy Badger does a great job of defending against third-party threats, it assumes the websites you visit (first-parties) are trustworthy, and do not block their attempts to identify you. This is where Conseal comes in; our extension provides the base features of Privacy Badger that we all know and love, while providing additional protection against first-party threats.
